Sweet One

I was hired to make this card for a baby shower. The mom-to-be is having a boy, but I didn't want to make the card too masculine so I pulled the softer, more neutral colors. I wanted it to look like a wall with beadboard (though that is really difficult to see in this photo...sorry!), chair rail, textured wall on top with a baby-themed wall hanging. It turned out even better than I'd hoped.

Cardstock: white; SU - barely banana, bashful blue (banner), brocade blue (frame), so saffron (moon)
Stamps: SU - So Many Scallops
Ink: Versamark
Misc: Stampendous - midnight black e.p.; Sizzix - Texturez Tween Stripes; MM - FA Trims (Sidney), silver star brad, thin black wire; Zips; tacky tape; CM - circle cutters; Xyron

Class of '09

It's hard to believe that my "little" cousin graduated this weekend. The same kid I babysat from the time he was born! Sheesh - where does the time go??!!

I saw this post last week and thought it would be perfect for Scott's card. I tweaked it to include his school colors & to work with my smaller dies. I'm pleased as punch w/ the result! *pat myself on the back*

Cardstock/paper: SU - Good Morning Sunshine, Western Sky, So Saffron; dk. kraft; green crinkle (that's technical, right?)
Stamps: PTI - Fresh Alphabet
Ink: SO - timber brown
Misc: Sizzix - Aphrodite alpha, Stars #2; MM - FV trims (Lizzie), star brads; SU - clear embossing powder; green grossgrain; pop dots; tacky tape; Xyron 250

Blooming Birthday Gift

I'm waaaaaaaay far behind on Dawn's color challenges, but that does not mean that I opted not to do them altogether. On the contrary, I continue to think on them and use them as inspiration hits me. Like with this gift card holder, for instance. It was my co-worker's birthday this week, and I wanted something fun, yet feminine, for her "card." Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #3 was perfect!

So here's the color combo:

And here's my take on it. What do you think? (I got the gift card holder idea from this post on Sheetload Shortcuts.)

Cardstock/Paper: TLC - Slumber Party; SU - Autumn Vine; kraft
Stamps: PTI - Around & About Sentiments (inside tag only)

Project Complete

My voice teacher chose the stationery sample she liked the best, which will be a gift for her sister's birthday. I was a little surprised by her choice, but I knew she would know her sister's tastes better than I. I'm pleased with the result, and I think she will be too.

Ink: SU - taken with teal, close to cocoa

I made this great gift card holder using a Sheetload Shortcut. I highly recommend these little jewels. They're super easy to put together & make the presentation so much nicer than what I've been able to come up with on my own! Just stick it together, decorate it, and *voila*!

I'm Back...and a Card

I haven't really been in the crafting mood since I got back from my trip. I did actually make two very cute cards, but I made them on the run & forgot to take photos. =( Today, I have a free day at home since my office is being recarpeted at work. So I'm catching up on some of the cards on my list. You'll get at least two posts out of me this week. lol

Birthday

Today we're celebrating my brother's birthday. So I made him this card. I based the design on this card. I changed the color scheme so it was a bit more masculine. And I also used some background paper that pays a small tribute to my brother's profession - Texas DPS - where a star similar to the one in the paper is on their badges & other professional emblems.

Just Because

I have a friend who's currently trying to "make it" in NYC. Pretty tough. But I really admire him. He's exceedingly talented. And I hope to see his name in lights one day. While he's on the long, hard road to stardom, I like to send him random notes of encouragement. So necessary when you live in THAT city! (My inspiration comes from here.)

I'm glad to have them finished! Still have several more to do. Hope to get them done tomorrow. It would be nice to have a clean slate when I leave for Ireland next Friday!

I Frogot

After making a card for a friend's husband, I realized I had forgotten to send her a card for her birthday (which was almost a month ago!). So I pulled out my favorite stamp set - yep, the frogs. They're just so darned cute & the sentiment was perfect. I "fixed" a big booboo - I totally mucked up the sky in the background - by cutting the frog out & mounting dimensionally on top of blue cardstock. Voila - the sky returns all pretty! Whew!

Cardstock: not quite navy, white, hunter green
Stamps: Unfrogettable
Ink: onyx
Misc: pop dots, black stitched ribbon, ribbon slide, tacky tape, burnished brads, rub-on stitching, pearl embossing powder, versamark, watercolor pencils, blending pen
