Project Complete

My voice teacher chose the stationery sample she liked the best, which will be a gift for her sister's birthday. I was a little surprised by her choice, but I knew she would know her sister's tastes better than I. I'm pleased with the result, and I think she will be too.

Third Sample

For my third sample, I attempted to improve upon my first failed attempt. I think I was able to find a relatively good substitute combination that works. Unfortunately, when I purchased the in-color cardstock, I didn't think to purchase the ink. Silly me! It made ink-matching a bit of a challenge. But I think it works alright when you're not too heavy-handed.

Second Sample

Most of my recent stationery projects have been very simple - sans a lot of color. For the second design sample, I opted to punch up the color palette & make it much more prominent. I still kept it clean & simple. I think it works really well.

Cardstock: SU - night of navy; DCWV - luxury stack; PTI - white shimmer
Ink: SU - night of navy
Stamps: PTI - simply stationery
Misc: SU - scallop edge punch; pop dots; corner rounder; Sizzix - circles #2

First Sample

I mentioned yesterday that my voice teacher has contracted me to make several sets of monogrammed stationery for friends & family. She selected a color palette for the project, and I decided to make several design samples so she could select that as well. Here is the first successful sample. I opted to keep it simple so the cards would be quick & easy to assemble yet still be very classy.

Reject

My voice teacher loved her set of monogrammed stationery so much that she asked me to make several sets for her to give to friends & family. I've started on samples for the first set she's requested. Funny enough, I decided to start by posting the sample reject. I'm working with a blue color palette for this project, but the blues I selected for this card did not work in the end. I liked the elements individually but once I put them all together, it just did not work for me. Talk about YUK! Toss this one in the scrap heap!

Stamps: PTI - simply stationery
Ink: SU - brocade blue, creamy caramel, not quite navy
Misc: satin ribbon; pop dots; ScorPal

Custom Stationery

Have you seen the newest release over at PaperTrey Ink? What fabulous sets they have this month! So great that I had to get (almost) all of them. I've been dying to break them in ever since they arrived this weekend & finally got the opportunity today since I'm home b/c of weather closings.

I started with the Simply Stationery set. My voice teacher is having a birthday this week and some custom cards are the perfect gift. I'm really pleased with the way these turned out. I repurposed the box that my new stamps sets arrived in - using the existing Polka Dot Parade band and adding my own coordinating paper & ribbon for a more decorative touch. I especially love the classy bow - it really dresses the whole thing up.
